Jan Sohl

Artist of the Black Hills member Jan Sohl

It is all about the landscape...the light, the forms, the stories. That has always intrigued me. The ancient past that we view now. I have always wondered what it all looked like back when...no roads or power lines or intrusions. Uninterrupted views with uninterrupted light.

I grew up in the Black Hills forever. We lived in Miles City MT for several years and then moved back to the Hills. I painted the lower Yellowstone and the prairie of southeastern Montana. We have two children and five grandchildren. They are the blessings of our lives. I show my work at the following galleries in the Hills area: Prairie Edge and Reflections of SD in Rapid City, Historic Deadwood-Lead Art Gallery in Lead, and the 1875 Gallery in Sundance WY.
